Robustel: Industrial 4G & 5G Routers, Gateways, and IoT Edge Solutions
Robustel is a global manufacturer of industrial connectivity hardware and software, best known for rugged 4G/5G cellular routers, IoT gateways, and a mature remote management platform. Their devices are widely used in critical infrastructure, retail networks, transport, utilities, manufacturing, and smart city projects worldwide.
Who Robustel Are
Founded with the mission to “make things connected,” Robustel designs and manufactures industrial-grade wireless IoT modems, routers, and gateways across cellular (3G/4G/LTE/5G), Wi-Fi and LPWAN (Cat-M1, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, BLE). Their offering pairs tough, field-proven hardware with in-house operating systems and a full fleet-management platform, giving enterprises an end-to-end toolset from device to cloud.
Platform Software
RobustOS (Routers)
RobustOS is Robustel’s Linux-based router operating system, developed entirely in-house. It provides the networking stack, multiple VPN options, advanced routing features, an SDK for customisation, and an App Center for modular software add-ons.
RobustOS Pro (Edge Gateways)
For edge computing gateways, RobustOS Pro is based on Debian Linux, with support for Docker, Python, Node.js and C/C++. It enables developers to run containerised apps, AI and analytics workloads directly at the edge, with tight integration into Robustel’s management system.
RCMS (Robustel Cloud Manager Service)
RCMS is Robustel’s IoT device management platform used to deploy, monitor and securely manage routers at scale. Key capabilities include firmware and configuration updates over-the-air, zero-touch provisioning with templates, remote CLI access, live telemetry, rebooting, and real-time dashboards. It helps reduce truck-rolls and speeds up troubleshooting.

Management & Security
Robustel solutions emphasise secure remote management and fleet scalability. RCMS supports zero-touch provisioning, remote CLI access, mass configuration rollouts, and coordinated firmware updates. RobustOS has been penetration-tested for cybersecurity resilience, and Robustel is rolling out compliance with European RED cybersecurity directives across its portfolio.
eSIM / eUICC Status
At present, Robustel routers ship with dual SIM slots for removable SIMs. Native embedded eSIM (eUICC) support is not yet part of the range, but customers can use removable eUICC SIM cards from their provider in Robustel devices. This ensures compatibility with remote SIM provisioning today, with the flexibility to adopt native eSIM SKUs when Robustel makes them available in future.
Applications & Industries
Robustel hardware provides connectivity across a wide range of use cases:
- Retail & Branch Networks – Secure 4G/5G connectivity for POS, kiosks, and branch offices, with multi-VPN support for compliance.
- Smart Cities & Public Sector – Connectivity for CCTV, EV charging points, signage, and IoT street furniture.
- Energy & Utilities – Secure links for substations, renewable energy sites, water and waste management systems.
- Manufacturing & Industrial IoT – Edge computing for local analytics, protocol translation, and predictive maintenance.
- Transport & Logistics – Vehicle-certified routers with GNSS and ignition sensing for fleet connectivity, depots and passenger Wi-Fi.
